We are all the main characters of our life, of our story. But what do you tell yourself about how you as the main character will behave in your life story? Do you see yourself fighting in a battle even when things look bleak? Or do you see yourself running away and hiding in someplace warm and safe?
It is crucial to tell yourself that you will do the right thing, to not give in. Because often times how you see yourself in your story, is how you will end up behaving.
If you realize you are telling yourself the wrong story, here is a tip from Leo Babauta of Zen Habits:
Change the damn story. Create a song to sing about yourself as the epic hero of your dreams. Sing this song daily, and be proud of it. Go after the dream, fight the forces of distraction and dullness and self-doubt, rise up to be your best self. You are the writer of your story, the composer of your song, and every moment is a chance to rewrite it, a new draft ready to be crafted into something better.
