Spending Time In Nature For Better Self-Control

New research suggests that spending time in nature may lead to less impulsive actions and increased self-control. Impulsivity is highly associated with over-eating, over-drinking and and even excessive gambling.

Carolyn Gregoire from Huffington Post notes:

It’s likely that the calmness and tranquility of natural landscapes reduces stress levels and promotes relaxation, which results in a feeling of time going by more slowly or a sense of having free time. In turn, this more expansive sense of time may encourage us to consider the relative benefits of future over immediate rewards.

Spending time in nature may be a terrific way to exercise self-control over some impulsive eating that occur during the holidays!
