First USDA Organic Certified Fast Food Restaurant Opens in California

According to Food World News, the first USDA-certified organic fast food restaurant in the US opened in California. The restaurant is called “The Organic Coup” and was founded by Erica Welton, a former buyer for Costco.

Elton told

We were always on the go and usually the best choice we had for food was Chipotle. They’ve done a really great job on the non-GMO front but somebody needed to take it all the way.

Their menu contains 95% organic dishes, and their signature ingredient is organic chicken breast which is fried in Nutiva coconut oil.

Their menu includes:

  • Fried chicken sandwich
  • Fried chicken bowl
  • Fried chicken wrap
  • Caramel-covered popcorn
